In BK-information number 3 of this year we already wrote about the advice and response to it from Kunsten '92. On May 8, the Case Now, the interest association for Dutch presentation and post-academic institutions for visual art. The association represents all organizations and institutions whose primary focus is the presentation, development, production and research of(from) contemporary visual art.

The organization is concerned about the timing of the opinion

De Zaak Nu is pleased with the advice to organize more space in the Mondriaan Fund's schemes to fund presentation institutions more solidly, the institutions can then better focus on making their organizations and program more inclusive and sustainable, conditions that are also mentioned in the advice.

The organization is concerned about the timing of the advice: "If the assessment frameworks are not available until late fall, the time remaining to adjust plans will be very short, creating unnecessary workload and also negatively affecting the success rate.ïinfluence."

That there is an eye toward an integrated approach to the various codes of conduct is applauded, but De Zaak Nu sees that the codes sometimes overlap and are weighted differently. There is a fear of increasing complexity in both application and accountability. On the integral weighting of the various codes: "As the Council itself notes, if Fair Pay is consistently implemented, for example, less will be able to be produced, allowing for fewer contact hours with the public and thus reaching a less extensive audience and defining impact differently."

In addition to the increased costs resulting from Fair Pay, other burdens have also risen sharply. The sector can only bear these additional costs if national, regional and local governments contribute to the joint task of making the sector agile and resilient, according to De Zaak Nu.

The organization welcomes the recommendation to add a sum of €500,000 to the total budget available for presentation institutions to broaden its public outreach, and would like to engage in discussions with the council about how to efficientlyënt use of this budget.

Concerns include the pressure of the new requirements, which come on top of unresolved old concerns. "Finally, we want to emphasize that the sector is also still dealing with the tremendous impact of COVID-19. Employees have been sick for long periods of time or completely disabled as a result of COVID-19, so many institutions are still facing serious staffing problems. Many organizations are now very busy catching up on programming, reclaiming audiences and are preparing content for the new arts plan period."
